For Writers Who Want to be Published!

Here at eTreasures, we know how difficult it can be to get your book published.  Large publishing houses want previously published authors, or those with an agent.  An agent wants a client with a proven track record.  So how does an unknown author get published to get a track record?  Self-publishing is one method, but vanity and subsidy publishers charge thousands.  Not only do they charge exorbitant prices, they don't promote your book.  They've made their money from you, so why waste their time trying to sell your book and not be sure it will?  Why should you pay all that money for just the printing?  Basically, that's all you'd get.  Many online, vanity, and subsidy publishers make promises they never keep, and make claims that simply are not true.  We're different.  We tell you what you get, plain and simple.  No hype here.  Just plain and simple facts.  We're that honest.  That's why we're here.  We start you off with publishing as as e-book, then when your sales record reaches 100 e-books sold, we'll print it, provided it is not under a print contract, and we will place it online worldwide. 

At eTreasures, your manuscript will be read by editors, just like any other true publisher.  We don't accept books that aren't well written with strong characters, interesting settings, and a strong plot.  We want books that sell.  We don't make any money unless your book sells.  Why?  Because we want to believe in the merit of the books we publish.  If a manuscript needs revising, we will make suggestions on what needs to be done.  If the book is so poorly written that it can't be accepted, we will tell you that as well.  We don't believe in quantity over quality. 

What are the publishing fees?  None.  We can  design  a cover for your book, if necessary, or we can provide you with contact information for a graphic artist who does an excellent job and charges a more than fair price.  We even have a page for you to see this artist's work so you can judge for yourself how professional the work is.  Many of our authors have already used her work for their books.  Never fear, we will consider your own artwork as well, as long as we feel it fits the story and/or is appropriate.

If we publish your book, eTreasures will set the retail price for you based on industry standards.  We then offer the book on our site for sale and pay a royalty of 35% of the retail price.  Royalties are paid in one of two ways.  If you have a PayPal account, we will submit payment to you once your sales has reached $10.  You will be notified by PayPal that your funds are waiting.  This is our preferred method of payment because it's instant.  No waiting for royalty checks!  If you do not have a PayPal account, it's free to get one at www.paypal.com -- be sure to sign up for the personal account, not business.  If you choose to receive a royalty check by mail, those will be sent quarterly, as outlined in the contract with us.  Again, once your sales has hit 100 e-books sold, we will then send your book in for soft cover printing, provided it is not under contract with another publisher.  The usual royalty rate is 15% of the retail price for printed books.  

Please note that we do not accept any manuscripts that are or contain porn, hate, racism, or those that contain violence or rape (unless it is a true crime novel).  If unsure, please contact our publishing department for more information.  We will not use a cover art design that is pornographic or offensive in nature.  

Submissions:

Before submitting any manuscript, a query letter must be sent via e-mail to submissions and must include -- as attachments only -- a  short synopsis (or outline) of your story (no more than 4 pages) and the first 3 chapters of your manuscript.  DO NOT INCLUDE THE SYNOPSIS OR SAMPLE CHAPTERS IN THE BODY OF YOUR E-MAIL.  It must be sent as an attachment.  We only accept queries on completed manuscripts.  If your manuscript is not finished, please wait until it is before contacting us.  The minimum length is 80 pages, maximum is 500 pages - double spaced and formatted to our specifications.  Lengthy books must have content that will carry a reader to the end.  Any part of the story that causes it to stall, or is something that is not needed in the story, should be removed.  Please see our submission guidelines for more information. 

 DO NOT SUBMIT AN ENTIRE MANUSCRIPT UNLESS INVITED TO DO SO!

All manuscripts must be submitted via e-mail using Word2000 or Word2003.  Do not submit your work in any other format.  We can not edit a manuscript properly, nor can we format it for publishing in any other type of document. We do not accept MS Works, Word Perfect, PDF Files, or any other program files.

When submitting, please give the genre (category) you feel best fits your manuscript.  If it can fit into more than one, let us know, but the primary genre should be listed first.  We also need the approximate word count and number of pages.

All authors are required to obtain their own copyrights with the Library of Congress. 

eTreasures  obtains exclusive rights for electronic formats.  We do not accept simultaneous submissions.  We prefer the first right of refusal or acceptance, therefore you should not submit to any other publisher at the same time.  Please wait to hear back from us before submitting elsewhere.  If you have already submitted your manuscript for consideration to another publisher, please wait until you have heard from them before submitting to us.  We do not publish e-books that are currently published, this includes being posted on personal websites.  Excerpts posted from the e-book to gain interest is fine, provided it is no more than ten pages.   If your e-book has previously been  published, we will need a copy of your contract to verify it is no longer in force.   

eTreasures does not pay an advance on royalties.  We reserve the right to submit e-books for review without payment to the author.  Reviews can only help your sales!  

Each author published by eTreasures will be entitled to their own web page.  Published authors will need to provide a photo (shoulders and head) and a short bio for their page.  We will list all the titles you have published with us (yes, you may submit as many manuscripts as you wish -- one at a time) and we'll place a picture of your book cover(s) on your page.  Each book will also have its own page, giving a picture of the cover, a description of the story, what formats it is available in, the price, and a purchase button(s) for instant ordering.  If you have a website, we will place a link to it on your page, as well as in out links section.  If you would like a banner on your site to link back to us, please let us know and we will provide it.  Link exchanges are FREE. 

Once a manuscript has been accepted, a contract will be offered for a period of three years.  Once this is signed and returned to us, your manuscript then goes to be edited and formatted for publishing in e-book format.  The current turn around time from acceptance to publication is approximately 120 days or less.
