Monica Spence is a writer of Historical Fiction and Historical Romance. After working as a costume designer in the Theater and a swimwear designer for several Seventh Avenue fashion houses, she now teaches full time at the Art Institute of New York City. This augments her passion for the history and people of Sixteenth Century Florence. She's a member of the Costume Society of America, the Society for Renaissance Studies, the Historical Novel Society, and the Romance Writers of America. She is a past President of the Romance Writers of Long Island and she also belongs to the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). She is an assistant editor of The Compleat Anachronist, a scholarly publication for the members of the SCA, and reviews new fiction and non-fiction for the Historical Novel Society. She was granted MA and BA in Theater/ Costume, and an MA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University (June 2008 graduate). In January 2008 she had a one-woman costume show in New York City. She is currently completing her PhD Thesis in Creative Writing at Lancaster University in England and hopes to graduate this year.
