Tony Boyd Priest was born in Marietta, Georgia , moved around a lot in his early childhood, and eventually settled in Sharpsburg, Georgia . He attended Madras Elementary School, and graduated - Class of 1964 - from Newnan High School , Newnan, Georgia. At Newnan High, he participated on the Track Team, was a National Beta Club Member, FFA President, Vice President, and Parliamentarian in subsequent years. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on a Navy Destroyer for two years. The remaining two years of his four year commitment, he spent with the U.S. Navy Sea Bees – MCB III, and was based at Gia Le Combat base near Hue, South Vietnam. During the infamous Tet Offensive of 1968, he lost several comrades, and had several close calls during the ensuing combat. Following the service, he’s spent more than thirty years in aviation, including eleven years flying in Alaska and the Yukon Territory . He presently holds an Airline Transport Pilot’s license, with type ratings for the CE500 Citation, BE400 Beech Jet, and the MU300 Diamond Jet. He also holds a Flight Instructor license and is currently flying professionally as well as flight instructing. His interest in writing has developed over the years, however, it became a serious interest when he encountered and became involved with the Writer’s Group located in his home town of Newnan, Georgia. He’s presently working on several other books based on his life and career experiences. |
